winter camping w/o pipe damage?

WE have a four winds siesta and want to go to places like Branson, Mo. to see Christmas shows. Can you wise campers give information as to what we need to do to keep home safe from freezing? We will appreciate your advice.

RE: Experienced opinion Hot Springs CG

We spent a week at the KOA in Hot Springs early summer and had a great time. They serve breakfast on week-ends, very helpful staff. We really enjoyed out time in Hot Springs and would enjoy going again.

RE: Trading for older RV

Question for Fatman We are wanting to pull our sofa out and replace with recliners. How difficult was that to do? Did you have trouble getting each in and out of mtr. home.? We have a 30'C. Thanks..

RE: Combining Camping with your other Hobbies....

I like to embroder and not the cross stitch type but the stamped ones. My mother taught this to me when I was a little girl and it is relaxing as we travel along. We both love history and antiques (now that I is one) so the combination works out well. The greatest hobby is having our grands go along with us. We have taken them to see the Arch in St. Louis,Cherokee Indian Reservation and so on. It is fun to see the country through their eyes! Just getting up each day healthy is a blessed hobby!

RE: Fuel Shortage

Live in Atlanta area and the gas shortage is still a big problem with a capital B. We are being told that by next week all should be back to normal if anyone knows what normal is anymore. I love Pine Mountain as a quaint little town and FDR. State Park is a great one. Also, plan to see the Little White House. President FDR's getaway. I do think gas shortage should be over by time you are planning to travel. Have a good safe trip and ENJOY!

RE: How to plain a trip?

We have made 3 long trips in the last year and have only made res. one time over Labor Day. I am the navigator and DH is main driver. Before leaving I look on internet for state events, etc. where we are traveling thru. When on the road I look for state parks or COE and lastly private. We also ask the camp host about good places to see or eat. I say we have a travel angel on board because we have found good sites and fun places in between destinations... she always takes care of us. You can get a copy of state parks in welcome centers and even if you are not staying in that state it will come in handy later. Enjoy! as all have said the trip is most of the fun! and leave your worry jacket hanging on a nail.

Just back from trip..good c/g's we found

We have just gotten back from a trip that included several states. We found a great campground in Ala. near Tuscoloosa, Lake Lureen. It has full h/u on a beautiful lake and a really nice camp host. She told us about Northport a small town, really cute and good places to eat.. Steamers on the river for fish and City Cafe for home cookin. Great at both! Also I have read many negative comments on KOA but the one in Hot Springs Ark. we found to be a most enjoyable place to stay. Clean, convenient to town, Grandpa breakfast on week-ends. Proving that not all KOA's can be grouped as bad. One more post.. I wish Trailer Life would list when a c/g is more filled with full time working people than is a campground of travelers. We stayed at one (don't want to mention) that although listed highly was nothing more that a parking lot filled with campers and Trucks! I was not comfortable because the men would congregate outside after work with their drinks and were pretty loud. I appreciate the workers and hv no complaint with their socializing but we would not have stopped there had we any idea. Anyone understand what I am saying? It is not a fair desscription with all the good marks given to find this type c/g. Yes, we could have left but were exhausted and had already pd. Comments???

Second on River Vista. We have been going there for years and have never been unhappy. Eat at Dillard House while there... you will need a nap after!

RE: Land Between the Lakes

We were there last year and it is so beautiful. I can't remember the name of the c/g but it was on the lake on the Ky. side. Main reason I am answering to tell you to be sure to go into Grand Rivers and eat at Patti's. The pork chops are tooo good and the pies have merigue ( spelled wrong ) a mile high. The area up there is a campers dream. Enjoy

Hot Springs Arkansas, fun place???

Got great advice for c/g's in Memphis as we visit a sick relative. Now we thought since we are near Arkansas that Hot Springs might be a fun side trip as we are not in any hurry. What do you know about that area and the Springs? I so appreciate all the expert advice.

RE: Your hometown favorite Hamburger and Hot Dog place! Pics!

If you haven't heard of the Varisty in Atlanta then you need to make a trip down south and open your ears. "WHATCHA HAVE,WHATCHA HAVE?" is music to a hungry crowd on any day. The best chilli dogs and PC you ever had. PC is Plain Chocolate, cold chocolate milk with lots of crushed ice. YUM!!! The history of this haven is unique. First fast food resturant in states sits right across from Ga. Tech. Mr. Gordy was told he could not make grade at Tech..Never mind ... went across the street opened Varsity to hungry students and the rest is financial history. On historical registry. See you there!

Do any of you have a covection toaster oven? Like it?

We are about to take a long trip ( about 8 wks.) and I thought a toaster oven would be good. DH thinks we need a convection toaster oven. I am totally unfamiliar with this type oven. Can anyone give me help and advice? Is this a good thing to purchase? It cost almost $200.00 and that seems a lot to me but it might save itself. I would appreciate feedback. Thanks...

RE: class c to full time in/retirement

We have a Four Winds, 2007, 30'C with three slides. Two in the front and one in B/Room. Not much storage in basement but we carry a lot in the tow. We chose not to have the overhead bunk and have our entertainment center there. We love our Siesta. The bathroom is a bit tight but you can't have everything and it answers the need. We downsized from D/pusher 35'. Do we miss the pusher? Sometimes but not enough to even cause a wrinkle. Good luck on your decision.
